True energy efficiency is far more than the design of efficient electrical, HVAC and plumbing systems.  Each system must be carefully coordinated with one another and the varied architectural features. In new building design, BEA typically becomes involved in the architectural coordination of window design, geographical orientation, building materials, floor layout, even landscaping.  It’s our responsibility to be ever mindful of seasonal temperatures, sunlight and wind patterns.

We have often reduced power consumption by incorporating “free” energy sources into our designs. In a model program, we successfully integrated geothermal energy, wind power, solar devices and solid waste heat recovery to supplement heating, domestic hot water and chilled water.
